Dr. Michael Alan Cochran, DDS, is a general dentist in Indianapolis, Indiana, who practices at Iu Craniofacial Clinic, Indiana University School of Dentistry - Dental Faculty Practice. He graduated from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry in 1969 and earned his M.S.D. in Operative Dentistry and Dental Materials while serving nine years in the US Navy Dental Corps. Dr. Cochran joined the Indiana University School of Dentistry faculty in 1978 and held leadership roles including Director of the Undergraduate Operative Dentistry Clinic, Chairman of the Operative Department, and Professor and Director of the Graduate Operative Dentistry program until 2009.
His procedures include dental implants, direct-fill restorations, gold foil procedures, root canals and veneers. Throughout his academic career, he taught and directed numerous pre- and post-doctoral dental courses and served on over 143 post-doctoral committees. He also served as Editor of Operative Dentistry journal for 10 years. He continues to teach graduate operative residents and junior dental students.
