Dr. Jack D Barchas is a psychiatrist in New York, New York, practicing at Nyph Weill Cornell. He trained at Yale School of Medicine and completed his psychiatry residency at Stanford, where he held the Nancy Friend Pritzker Professorship and directed the Pritzker Laboratory, an interdisciplinary program focused on behavioral neurobiology. He was previously Dean for Research Development and for Neuroscience at UCLA School of Medicine and a Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences. Dr. Barchas has held leadership roles in research policy, including chairing the Board on Biobehavioral Science and Mental Disorders of the Institute of Medicine for twelve years and serving as Chair of the Board of Trustees of the New York Academy of Medicine. He is President of the Pasarow Foundation, which provides awards for scientific achievement in neuropsychiatry, cardiovascular disease, and cancer, and currently chairs the Board of the Association for Research on Nervous and Mental Disorders.
