Dr. Esperanza Martinez Mier, DDS, PhD, is a general dentist at Indiana University School of Dentistry - Dental Faculty Practice in Indianapolis, Indiana. She trained at Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico, earning her DDS in 1989, and later completed a Master of Science in Dentistry focused on Preventive Dentistry and a Clinical Fellowship in Periodontics at Indiana University School of Dentistry, followed by a PhD in Dental Sciences from Indiana University in 2000.
She treats patients with dental caries, developmental defects of enamel, enamel fluorosis and molar-incisor hypomineralization, and her procedures include dental exams, fluoride application and caries prevention. Dr. Martinez Mier serves as Associate Dean for Global Engagement and Professor and Chair of the Department of Dental Public Health and Dental Informatics at Indiana University School of Dentistry, where she has worked for over two decades. Her research focuses on caries prevention with particular interest in fluoride research. She speaks English and Spanish.
